Pakistan and West Indies women’s cricket teams gear up for a riveting series comprising three ODIs and five T20Is starting from April 18.
Pakistan has unveiled its formidable 16-member squads for both the ODIs and T20Is against the West Indies, commencing in mid-April.
Kicking off with the ODIs, integral to the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25, this series promises high-octane action, followed by a gripping lineup of five T20Is, crucial for the teams’ preparations ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup later this year. The battleground for all eight clashes will be the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
In a bid to bolster their lineup, Pakistan welcomes back seasoned campaigners, wicketkeeper-batter Sidra Nawaz and Ayesha Zafar, in the T20I squad. Additionally, Gull Feroza, Rameen Shamim, and Tuba Hassan make their return, with Tuba also earning a spot in the ODI squad.
While the squad sees notable inclusions, leg-spinner Ghulam Fatima takes a well-deserved rest for recovery from minor injuries sustained in a recent car accident. Star player Bismah Maroof, also involved in the incident, awaits a fitness test next week before securing her position in both squads.
The ODI squad comprises a formidable lineup featuring Nida Dar at the helm, alongside stalwarts like Diana Baig, Sidra Nawaz, and others. Similarly, the T20I squad, under Nida Dar’s leadership, boasts a blend of experience and youthful vigor, ready to take on the West Indies challenge.
Chief selector Saleem Jaffar expressed confidence in the selected players, highlighting the return of five talents based on their stellar performances in domestic tournaments and camp trials.
He further emphasized the opportunity this series provides for players to showcase their prowess, vying for spots in the upcoming England tour. The ongoing domestic one-day tournament continues to be a platform for aspiring talents to stake their claim for the coveted spots in the England series.
