Islamabad, March 11, 2026 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning that air pollutants originating from Iran could move into western Pakistan due to prevailing wind patterns, potentially worsening air quality in several regions.
In an official communication released on Wednesday, the PMD said the current atmospheric conditions may transport pollutants from Iran toward Pakistan’s western areas, raising concerns about environmental and public health impacts.
“Due to the recent situation in Iran, winds may carry pollutants and deteriorate air quality in the western parts of the country,” the department stated.
Synoptic Situation
According to the PMD, a westerly weather system is currently affecting the western and upper parts of Pakistan. The system is expected to remain active in the northern and upper regions until Thursday, bringing clouds, rainfall, and thunderstorms in several areas.

Cloudy weather with rain, gusty winds, and thunderstorms is expected in:
• Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
• Gilgit-Baltistan
