Islamabad, August 12, 2024 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has released its weather forecast for Tuesday, August 13, 2024, predicting a mix of hot, humid conditions and localized rainfall across various regions of the country.

According to Pakistan Met, the majority of Pakistan will experience predominantly hot and humid weather on Tuesday. However, isolated rain showers with possible thunderstorms are expected in several areas, including Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Punjab, Islamabad, the Pothohar region, and northeast Balochistan. Coastal areas of Sindh should anticipate partly cloudy conditions with light rain in isolated locations.

On Monday, August 12, 2024, the Pakistan Met stated that the weather across Pakistan was characterized by rain and thunderstorms. The PMD reported rainfall in regions such as Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, Islamabad, northeast Balochistan, and southeast/upper Sindh. Additionally, coastal areas of Sindh experienced partly cloudy weather with light rain.

The synoptic situation released by the Pakistan Met indicates that monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are advancing into the upper and central parts of the country at lower tropospheric levels. Concurrently, a westerly wave is influencing the weather patterns in these regions.

In the past 24 hours, rain and thunderstorms have occurred in Punjab, Islamabad, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Balochistan, and Karachi. Notable rainfall amounts include Jhang with 81 mm, Saidpur (Islamabad) with 20 mm, and Kasur with 13 mm. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Malamjabba received 19 mm of rain, while in Balochistan, Barkhan recorded 4 mm. Karachi saw 3 mm of rainfall, and coastal areas of Sindh experienced minimal precipitation with Thatta recording 1 mm.

The highest recorded temperatures on August 12, 2024, were notably high, with Nokkundi and Dalbandin reaching 47°C and Sibbi hitting 44°C.

The forecast highlights the continuing impact of the monsoon season, with localized rainfall providing temporary relief from the heat. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather conditions and prepare for potential disruptions due to the forecasted showers and thunderstorms.
