Islamabad, January 11, 2026 — The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued the latest nationwide weather forecast for Monday, January 12, 2026, highlighting continued cold conditions, dense fog in plains, and chances of light precipitation in northern regions.

Synoptic Situation

According to the PMD, continental air continues to dominate most parts of Pakistan. However, a weak westerly wave is expected to affect the western and upper regions of the country tonight and persist through Monday, influencing local weather patterns.

Weather Outlook for Sunday

The weather is expected to remain cold and dry across most regions, while very cold conditions will prevail in hilly and mountainous areas. During the evening and night, partly cloudy skies are likely over upper and central Pakistan.

Additionally, moderate to dense fog is forecast to persist over Punjab, upper Sindh, and the plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which may disrupt road and air travel.

Weather Forecast for Monday

On Monday, cold and dry weather will continue in most parts of the country, with severely cold conditions in northern high-altitude areas. The PMD has predicted partly cloudy weather in the upper regions, with isolated chances of light rain or light snowfall in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and nearby areas.

Fog conditions are likely to remain moderate to dense over Punjab, upper Sindh, and plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during morning and night hours.

Past 24-Hour Weather Conditions

Over the past 24 hours, cold and dry weather prevailed nationwide, while very cold temperatures were recorded in hilly areas. Light rainfall of 3 mm was recorded in Gwadar.

Frost formation was observed in Islamabad, the Potohar region, and parts of Kashmir during early morning hours. Dense fog continued to affect large parts of Punjab, upper Sindh, and plain districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
