Pakistan Weather Forecast for January 31, 2026: Cold, Dry Conditions to Persist

Islamabad, January 30, 2026 — The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued the national weather outlook for Saturday, January 31, 2026, forecasting continued cold and dry conditions across most parts of the country, with chances of light rain and snowfall in northern regions.

According to the PMD, mainly cold and dry to partly cloudy weather is expected to prevail nationwide on Saturday. However, very cold conditions will persist in hilly areas, particularly during the morning and nighttime hours. Light rain accompanied by light snowfall is likely at isolated locations in Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and northern parts of Balochistan during the evening or night.

The PMD stated that similar weather conditions were observed on Friday, with cold and dry weather dominating most regions, while mountainous areas experienced severe cold. Isolated spells of light rain and snow were also reported in northern high-altitude areas.

Explaining the synoptic situation, the department said that continental air is currently prevailing over most parts of Pakistan. Additionally, a shallow westerly wave is expected to approach the western and upper regions of the country from Friday evening or night, which may trigger isolated precipitation in northern areas.

During the past 24 hours, cold and dry weather continued across the country, with extremely low temperatures recorded in high-altitude regions. The lowest minimum temperatures included Leh at minus 10°C, Astore at minus 9°C, Kalam and Gupis at minus 8°C, Skardu at minus 7°C, Parachinar at minus 6°C, and Malam Jabba at minus 5°C.

Citizens, particularly in northern and hilly regions, are advised to take precautionary measures against extreme cold.
