Islamabad, January 5, 2026 — The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has released the national weather outlook for Tuesday, January 6, 2026, predicting cold and dry conditions across most parts of the country, with very cold weather persisting in mountainous regions.

Synoptic Situation

According to the PMD, continental air continues to dominate most regions of Pakistan. In addition, a shallow westerly wave is affecting the northern parts of the country and is likely to persist over the next 24 hours, influencing temperatures and cloud cover in upper areas.

Weather Forecast

Monday:

Cold weather is expected in most parts of the country. Northern and hilly regions are likely to remain cloudy and very cold. The PMD has warned of moderate to dense fog in parts of Punjab, upper Sindh, and the plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which may disrupt road traffic and visibility during morning and night hours.

Tuesday:

Similar weather conditions are forecast to continue on Tuesday. Cold and dry weather will prevail in most regions, while cloudy and very cold conditions are expected in hilly areas. Moderate to dense fog is again likely to develop in Punjab, upper Sindh, and plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly during early morning hours.

Weather During the Past 24 Hours

Over the last 24 hours, cold and dry weather dominated most parts of Pakistan, with very cold conditions in mountainous regions. However, light snowfall was reported in Skardu and Dalbandin. Dense fog affected several districts of Punjab, lower Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Sindh, and Islamabad, significantly reducing visibility.
