ISLAMABAD, September 25, 2026: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast hot and dry weather across most plain areas of the country on Friday and Saturday, with isolated rain, wind and thunderstorms expected in parts of the northern regions.
According to the latest PMD forecast, a trough of a westerly wave is affecting the upper parts of Pakistan and is likely to persist until Friday. A deep depression over south-eastern Odisha in India is also moving in a north-northwestward direction.
Weather Forecast for Friday
Most plain areas of Pakistan are expected to experience hot and dry weather on Friday.
However, partly cloudy conditions with isolated rain, wind and thunderstorms are likely in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and upper and central Punjab.
The PMD has also forecast isolated hailstorms in areas affected by the weather system.
The department’s latest outlook is consistent with its broader weekly forecast, which indicates isolated to scattered rain and thunderstorms over upper catchments, Islamabad, upper Punjab, KP, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan between September 25 and 29.
Weather Forecast for Saturday
Most plain areas will again remain hot and dry on Saturday.
Partly cloudy weather accompanied by isolated rain, wind and thunderstorms is expected in upper KP, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Isolated hailstorms are also possible during the period.
Weather Recorded During Past 24 Hours
The PMD said dry weather prevailed over most parts of the country during the past 24 hours, with temperatures remaining high across the plains.
Isolated rain, wind and thunderstorms were reported in parts of Punjab, KP, Islamabad and Kashmir.
Rainfall in Punjab
Noor Pur Thal received the highest rainfall in Punjab at 34mm, followed by Attock with 12mm and Murree with 11mm.
Chakwal, Hafizabad and Sialkot City received 2mm each, while Sialkot Airport recorded 1mm. Joharabad and Islamabad also received 1mm each.
Rainfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
In KP, Dir Lower received the highest rainfall at 31mm, followed by Khaar Bajaur with 17mm.
Saidu Sharif, D.I. Khan Airport and D.I. Khan City received 11mm, 11mm and 10mm, respectively.
Dir Upper recorded 5mm, Takht Bhai 7mm and Balakot 4mm. Peshawar City and Kakol received 3mm each, while Malam Jabba recorded 2mm.
Cherat and Bacha Khan Airport received 1mm each.
Rainfall in Kashmir
In Kashmir, Muzaffarabad City received 8mm of rain, followed by Muzaffarabad Airport with 6mm.
Garhi Dupatta and Barnala recorded 3mm each, while Kotli received 2mm.
Highest Temperatures
The highest maximum temperature recorded during the previous day was 42°C, recorded in Shaheed Benazirabad and Dalbandin.
Temperatures reached 41°C in Sakrand, Mithi, Nokundi, Turbat and Dadu.

The PMD’s current outlook indicates that while much of Pakistan will continue to experience hot and dry conditions, the weak westerly system will bring isolated rain and thunderstorms to northern and upper parts of the country over the coming days.
