Islamabad, October 24, 2024 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued the weather outlook for Friday, October 25, 2024, predicting predominantly dry weather for most regions of the country. However, isolated rain accompanied by wind and thunderstorms may occur in parts of upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan during the evening or night hours.
According to the PMD, continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country, contributing to the dry weather pattern. The forecast suggests that areas like Islamabad, Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan will remain mostly dry, with temperatures expected to stay warm. However, the northern regions, particularly upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan, might experience sporadic showers and thunderstorms, bringing brief relief from the otherwise dry conditions.
For Thursday, October 24, 2024, the weather outlook also anticipated mainly dry conditions across most parts of Pakistan. Isolated rain-wind and thunderstorms were expected in Gilgit-Baltistan, which aligns with the current weather pattern that has seen intermittent rainfall in the northern highlands.
Recent Weather Conditions and Rainfall
During the past 24 hours, the country experienced hot and dry conditions, particularly in southern and central regions. However, isolated rainfall was reported in the northern parts of the country. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan were the key areas that witnessed rain, with Kalam in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa recording 2 mm and Chitral seeing 1 mm of rain. In Gilgit-Baltistan, Bagrote received 2 mm of rain, while Astore and Hunza each recorded 1 mm of rainfall.

Other cities, including Chhor, Karachi, Padidan, Dadu, Lasbela, Tandojam, Sakrand, Thatta, and Hyderabad, all saw maximum temperatures of 39°C, indicating continued hot conditions across southern parts of the country.
Outlook
With the prevailing continental air mass, dry conditions are expected to continue in most parts of Pakistan over the next few days. However, residents of northern regions should be prepared for isolated rain showers, which could provide some temporary relief from the dry weather. Travelers heading to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan are advised to stay updated on local weather conditions, particularly in the evening and nighttime hours.
