Pakistan Weather

Islamabad, October 7, 2024: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has released the weather forecast for Tuesday, October 8, 2024, predicting a mix of rain, windstorms, and dry conditions across various regions of the country. According to the PMD, several areas will experience rain and thunderstorms, with the possibility of heavy rainfall and hailstorms in specific locations.

For Tuesday, the PMD forecast indicates that upper Punjab, northeastern Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to witness rain accompanied by windstorms or thunderstorms. These conditions are likely to intensify, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir, where heavy rainfall and isolated hailstorms may occur. In contrast, the central and southern parts of the country will experience mostly dry weather.

The department has attributed the anticipated weather activity to a westerly wave currently affecting western and upper parts of Pakistan. This system is expected to strengthen by Monday evening or night, leading to an increase in rainfall intensity and associated weather phenomena.

As for Monday, October 7, 2024, the PMD forecasted similar weather patterns. Rain and thunderstorms were expected in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and northern and southeastern Balochistan. Additionally, isolated showers were anticipated in the Potohar Region and northeastern Punjab later in the evening or night. However, the majority of the country, including Sindh and central Punjab, is expected to remain dry.

During the past 24 hours, rain and windstorms were reported in isolated areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and Balochistan. Meanwhile, hot and dry conditions persisted in other parts of the country, with Turbat in Balochistan recording the highest temperature of 40°C, followed closely by Nokkundi, which registered 39°C.

The PMD advised citizens, particularly those living in regions prone to heavy rainfall, to take precautionary measures in light of the forecast, especially due to the risk of flash floods and hailstorms in vulnerable areas. Travelers and motorists were also cautioned to be vigilant due to possible reduced visibility and slippery road conditions during rainstorms.

As the westerly wave gains strength, it is expected to bring more rain to the upper regions, while southern Pakistan will continue to experience hot and dry conditions. The PMD will continue to monitor the evolving weather situation and provide updates as necessary.
