Islamabad, December 27, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Saturday issued its latest weather update, outlining the expected conditions across the country for the next 24 hours. The advisory provides guidance for the general public, travelers, and relevant authorities as winter conditions continue to prevail nationwide.
According to the PMD, a continental air mass is currently dominating most parts of Pakistan, resulting in cold and dry weather conditions across the plains and very cold temperatures in the northern and hilly regions. This prevailing synoptic situation is typical for the winter season and is likely to maintain stable but chilly conditions over large areas of the country.
For Saturday, the Met Office forecasts cold and dry weather in most regions, while northern areas may experience partly cloudy skies. During nighttime hours, patches of fog are likely to develop over the plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh, which could reduce visibility and affect road travel during late night and early morning hours.
Looking ahead to Sunday, similar weather conditions are expected to persist. Cold and dry weather will continue over most parts of the country, while upper regions are likely to see partly cloudy to cloudy conditions. Fog patches may again form over the plains of Punjab and upper Sindh during the night and early morning. In the northernmost areas, isolated light rain and light snowfall are expected in parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, offering some relief to dry conditions in the region.
The PMD also shared a summary of the past 24-hour weather, noting that cold and dry conditions prevailed across most areas, with very cold weather reported in northern Pakistan. The lowest minimum temperatures recorded included Leh at minus 10 degrees Celsius, Skardu at minus 6 degrees Celsius, Gopis at minus 5 degrees Celsius, and Babusar, Gilgit, and Astore each recording minus 4 degrees Celsius.
Citizens are advised to take precautionary measures during cold weather and foggy conditions, particularly while traveling, and to stay updated with official PMD forecasts and advisories.
