Islamabad, February 4, 2026 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Wednesday issued the latest nationwide weather update, forecasting predominantly cold and dry conditions across most regions of the country.

Synoptic Situation

According to the PMD, continental air continues to prevail over most parts of Pakistan. A fresh westerly wave is expected to enter the western regions of the country on the night of February 5, which may influence weather conditions in northern and western areas.

Weather Forecast

Wednesday:

Cold and dry weather is likely to persist in most parts of the country. Hilly regions are expected to experience very cold conditions during nighttime, with temperatures dropping significantly after sunset.

Thursday:

Mainly cold and dry weather will continue across the country. However, partly cloudy to cloudy conditions are expected in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The PMD has forecast light rain or light snowfall at isolated locations in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and north Balochistan during the night. Additionally, shallow to moderate fog may develop in patches over northeastern districts of Punjab during early morning hours.

Past 24-Hour Weather

During the last 24 hours, cold and dry weather dominated most regions, while upper and central areas experienced partly cloudy conditions. Rain and snowfall were recorded at isolated places in northeast Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and nearby hilly areas.

Rainfall (mm): Skardu 06, Garhidupatta 06, Muzaffarabad (City 04, Airport 03), Rawalakot 03, Kalam 03, Pattan 02.

Snowfall (inches): Skardu 2.7, Kalam 1.5, Murree and Astore (trace).

The lowest minimum temperature recorded was -11°C in Leh, followed by -6°C in Kalam and -5°C in Skardu and Astore.
