Pakistan Weather Update: Quetta Temperature Expected to Drop to -4°C

Islamabad, December 9, 2025 – Pakistan is experiencing an intense cold wave as temperatures continue to fall across several regions. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that Quetta, the capital of Balochistan, may plunge to -4°C in the next two days, deepening the ongoing winter chill.

According to the PMD, Quetta’s current minimum temperature stands at -2°C, and the cold spell is expected to intensify over the next 72 hours. Meteorologists highlight that weather patterns in Quetta often influence conditions in Karachi, the country’s largest commercial hub, meaning the port city could also experience a noticeable drop in temperature in the coming days.

Synoptic Situation:

A continental air mass is dominating most parts of the country, while a shallow westerly wave is likely to enter northwestern regions later this evening.

Tuesday Forecast:

Cold and dry conditions are expected nationwide, with partly cloudy skies anticipated in the northern areas during the evening and night hours. Smog and patchy fog are likely to persist in the plains of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Wednesday Forecast:

The PMD predicts very cold mornings and nights, particularly in hilly regions. Cold and dry weather will prevail across Pakistan, with smog and fog continuing in plain areas of Punjab and KP.
