Islamabad, September 14, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has released its latest weather update for the period of September 15 to 19, highlighting significant changes expected in different regions of the country.

According to the advisory, moist currents of moderate intensity from the Arabian Sea are entering the upper parts of Pakistan, while a westerly wave will approach on September 15 and may persist until September 19.

Regional Forecast

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Rain, wind, and thunderstorms are likely in Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Kohat, and adjoining areas from September 16–19, with breaks in between.

Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan: Scattered rain-wind/thundershowers are expected across Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Kotli, Mirpur, Hunza, Skardu, Gilgit, and Astore. Heavy falls may occur on September 16 and 18.

Punjab and Islamabad: Rain-wind/thundershowers are forecast for Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, and Jhelum from September 16–19. Cities including Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Faisalabad, and Sargodha may receive rainfall on September 18–19, with the possibility of isolated heavy showers.

Sindh: Mostly dry weather is expected across Sindh, though Karachi and coastal areas may experience partly cloudy skies.

Balochistan: Predominantly dry conditions are forecast for the province.

Possible Impacts

• Windstorms, hail, and lightning may damage weak structures, electricity poles, billboards, and solar panels.

• Landslides are possible in vulnerable hilly areas of KP, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Murree.

• Heavy rainfall could increase water flows in streams and nullahs of Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Murree, Rawalpindi, and Kashmir between September 18–19.

The PMD has advised the public, especially tourists and travelers, to remain cautious and stay updated with the latest weather information. Authorities have been urged to stay vigilant and take precautionary measures to minimize risks.

This Pakistan weather outlook suggests that while the south will remain relatively dry, the northern and central regions should prepare for active weather systems in the coming week.
