Karachi, October 16, 2025 – Pakistan’s textile exports surged to $4.77 billion during the first quarter (July–September) of the current fiscal year 2025–26, according to the latest data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Thursday.
The textile sector, which remains the backbone of Pakistan’s export economy, recorded a 5.63% year-on-year growth, up from $4.52 billion in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.
In category-wise performance, knitwear exports led the rally with a 12.21% increase, fetching $1.42 billion compared to $1.27 billion during the same period last year. Readymade garments, the second-largest component of the textile group, rose by 6%, generating $1.06 billion, up from $997 million in the corresponding quarter of FY25.
Similarly, bedwear exports showed strong performance, climbing 7.28% to $853 million as compared to $795 million last year. Other key contributors such as cotton cloth and towel exports also posted moderate growth amid improved demand from major markets including the US and the EU.
The PBS data revealed that textile exports accounted for 63% of Pakistan’s total exports during the first quarter of FY26, underscoring the sector’s vital contribution to the national economy.
Experts believe that the recent improvement reflects better energy availability, stable input costs, and stronger global demand. However, they also cautioned that sustaining this growth will depend on continued policy support, competitiveness, and global trade stability.
