ISLAMABAD, August 21, 2025 – Pakistan’s textile exports posted a robust 32% increase in July 2025, the first month of the new financial year (2025-26), compared to the same month of the previous year, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Thursday.

The overall value of textile exports stood at $1.679 billion during July 2025, up from $1.271 billion in July 2024. On a month-on-month basis, the sector also showed improvement, rising 10.37% compared to $1.521 billion recorded in June 2025.

Several major textile categories contributed to this surge. Cotton yarn exports grew modestly by 0.57% to $56.070 million, while cotton cloth saw a 1.19% rise to $141.823 million. Yarn other than cotton yarn increased by 16.02% to $2.965 million, showing stronger demand in diversified fabric markets.

Value-added segments posted the most impressive gains. Knitwear exports surged 43.50% to $513.277 million, bed wear rose 38.29% to $296.354 million, towels climbed 33.93% to $93.877 million, and readymade garments advanced 35.47% to $400.252 million.

Other products also posted strong performance. Exports of art, silk, and synthetic textile products grew 21.67% to $33.150 million, while made-up articles (excluding towels and bed wear) jumped 45.38% to $69.867 million. Exports of all other textile materials rose 33.08% to $65.174 million.

However, some segments faced a downturn. Exports of tents, canvas, and tarpaulin dropped sharply by 37.64%, falling from $10.877 million to $6.783 million.

Analysts said the strong start highlights growing demand for Pakistan’s value-added products, but sustaining this momentum will require competitive pricing, consistent supply chains, and supportive trade policies for the textile sector.
