Pakistan International Airlines

Islamabad, December 22, 2025 — The Privatization Commission (PC) is set to conduct live open bidding for the sale of 75 percent shares of Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Limited (PIACL) on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, as part of the government’s ongoing privatization drive.

According to an official news release, interested bidders will submit their sealed bids at 10:30 am on the day of bidding. The reference price for the PIACL transaction will be approved only after the receipt of bids by the Privatization Commission Board and the Cabinet Committee on Privatisation, ensuring due process and competitive evaluation.

The bid-opening ceremony will commence at 3:30 pm in the presence of the bidders. Following the opening, both the submitted bids and the approved reference price will be announced, and the bidding process will be concluded in accordance with the agreed terms and conditions.

To promote transparency, the entire bidding event will be broadcast live on television and digital platforms. Adviser to the Prime Minister on Privatization, Muhammad Ali, will also address the media in a press conference after the conclusion of the bidding process to brief stakeholders on the outcome.

The privatization of Pakistan International Airlines is a key component of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s broader economic reform agenda, aimed at improving efficiency, reducing the financial burden on the national exchequer, and revitalizing state-owned enterprises.

In line with the government’s commitment to transparent and credible privatization, the full process will be aired live across all major TV channels and streamed through official social media accounts of the government and the Privatization Division. PIACL, the national flag carrier, is being privatized with the objective of restoring its legacy and returning the airline to operational and financial strength.
