Lahore, March 16, 2025 — The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has formally served a legal notice to South African cricketer Corbin Bosch for allegedly violating his contractual commitments.
The PCB has taken this step following Bosch’s unexpected decision to withdraw from his professional obligations in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and instead consider an opportunity in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Bosch, 30, was picked by Peshawar Zalmi in the Diamond category during the tenth edition of the HBL PSL Player Draft, which took place in Lahore on January 13. His selection was seen as a crucial addition to the franchise’s squad, particularly in strengthening both their batting and bowling departments. However, his potential move to IPL’s Mumbai Indians has triggered serious contractual concerns for the PCB.
The PCB served the legal notice through Bosch’s agent, demanding an explanation for his withdrawal from the PSL 10 season. The cricket board has emphasized the potential consequences of his departure and has required a formal response within the stipulated timeframe. The PCB has also made it clear that it will not provide further public comments on the issue until Bosch responds.
Recent reports suggest that Bosch, a right-arm pacer, is being considered as a replacement for the injured Lizaad Williams in the Mumbai Indians squad for IPL 2025. Given the direct scheduling clash between the PSL and IPL this year, Bosch’s potential switch has raised concerns over player commitments and contractual adherence. The PCB remains firm on ensuring that all players honor their PSL agreements, and Bosch’s case is being closely monitored.
This is not the first time Bosch has been linked to the IPL. Although he has yet to make his IPL debut, he was previously associated with the Rajasthan Royals as a reserve player. His familiarity with the Mumbai Indians’ system stems from his successful tenure with MI Cape Town in the SA20 league, where he played a key role in their title-winning campaign, taking 11 wickets in seven innings at an economy rate of 8.68.
Meanwhile, Peshawar Zalmi now faces a challenge in reshuffling their squad strategy, with the PCB assisting in managing the implications of Bosch’s absence. The franchise may explore alternative replacement options as they prepare for the highly competitive PSL 10 season. The PCB continues to uphold strict measures to ensure contractual obligations are met and league integrity is maintained.
