Petrol reaches Rs390.66 per litre as HSD price falls to Rs399.34 amid changing global oil prices

ISLAMABAD: The government has increased the price of petrol by Rs3.26 per litre while reducing the price of High Speed Diesel (HSD) by Rs1.01 per litre for October 2, 2026.

The price of petrol increased from Rs387.40 per litre on October 1 to Rs390.66 on October 2. Meanwhile, HSD declined from Rs400.35 to Rs399.34 per litre.

The seven-working-day average Platts Arab Gulf Mean price for petrol rose from $127.74 to $129.01 per barrel. The premium, including freight, also increased from $15.55 to $15.86 per barrel.

Consequently, petrol cost and freight increased from $143.29 to $144.87 per barrel, while its rupee cost rose from Rs249.93 to Rs252.67 per litre. The ex-refinery/import price increased to Rs279.90 from Rs276.64.

The petroleum levy remained unchanged at Rs80 per litre, while the Climate Support Levy stayed at Rs5. Sales tax remained zero.

For HSD, the Dubai crude average declined from $110.68 to $110.11 per barrel. Cost and freight fell to $158.50 from $159.07, while the rupee cost dropped to Rs276.45 per litre from Rs277.47. The ex-refinery/import price fell to Rs292.34.

The petroleum and Climate Support levies for HSD remained unchanged, with sales tax at zero.

The government said international price changes are passed on through a seven-working-day revision mechanism.
