Petroleum Prices in Pakistan from August 1, 2025

Pakistan is preparing to announce new petroleum prices tonight, effective from August 1, 2025, for the first half of the month.

Citizens across the country are eagerly awaiting the official notification, with expectations of a significant reduction in petroleum prices due to a stronger Pakistani rupee and lower global crude oil rates.

According to reliable sources, the federal government will unveil the revised petroleum prices later today. The adjustment comes at a time when international oil premiums are falling and exchange rates are improving, creating an opportunity for Pakistan to pass on relief to consumers.

Globally, the premium on petrol has dropped by $2.92 per barrel, falling from $9.68 to $6.76. Similarly, high-speed diesel (HSD) has seen a slight reduction of $0.05 per barrel, from $3.25 to $3.20. These global trends, coupled with the rupee’s recent appreciation, are expected to pave the way for notable cuts in petroleum prices across Pakistan.

Estimates suggest that petrol prices could drop by Rs9.17 per litre, lowering the cost from Rs272.25 to Rs263.08. HSD might also see a decline of Rs3.73 per litre, bringing its price down to Rs280.62. However, not all fuel products are expected to become cheaper. Kerosene oil may rise by Rs3.55 per litre to Rs184.88, and light diesel oil (LDO) may increase by Rs2.33, reaching Rs170.09.

Currently, the petroleum levy on petrol is Rs78.02 per litre and Rs77.01 per litre on HSD. The Inland Freight Equalization Margin (IFEM) remains at Rs8.89 for petrol and Rs6.04 for HSD.

This marks Pakistan’s first petroleum prices revision for August 2025, aimed at easing inflationary pressures and ensuring economic relief for the public.
