Islamabad, June 27, 2025 – In a move to rejuvenate Pakistan’s struggling industrial sector, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formed a high-powered committee to develop a comprehensive strategy for the revival of industrial growth.
This initiative aims to shift the country’s economic trajectory toward export-led, competitive, and sustainable industrial development.
According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Industries and Production, the newly formed committee has been tasked with holding detailed consultations and formulating a clear roadmap for implementation. The committee comprises a diverse group of key public and private sector stakeholders with expertise in finance, law, commerce, taxation, banking, and industrial development.

Terms of Reference (ToRs):
1. Conduct wide-ranging consultations with relevant stakeholders on strategies for promoting export-led industrial growth based on efficiency and competitiveness rather than protectionist policies.
2. Draft an action plan for the execution of recommendations, in collaboration with public and private sector representatives.
3. Facilitate public consultations to generate an informed debate on the core aspects of the strategy.
4. Establish firm timelines for the implementation of recommendations.
The committee has been directed to finalize and submit its recommendations to the Prime Minister within two weeks. The initiative reflects Shehbaz Sharif’s focus on revitalizing the industrial base as a means of driving sustainable economic growth and boosting employment in the country.
