The government says around 7.6 million people have successfully registered, while the token redemption process has entered its second week.
ISLAMABAD, September 29, 2026: The Prime Minister’s Special Fuel Relief Scheme has recorded approximately 7.6 million successful registrations, while the token redemption process has entered its second week, a meeting of the National Steering Committee on Fuel Subsidy was informed on Tuesday.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired the meeting to review progress on the implementation of the government’s fuel relief initiative.
According to a press release issued by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, the committee reviewed the latest developments relating to beneficiary registration, token redemption, payments and the handling of complaints.
Ishaq Dar reviews implementation progress
During the meeting, Ishaq Dar appreciated the progress made under the scheme and acknowledged the coordinated efforts of federal and provincial institutions involved in its implementation.
The deputy prime minister described the initiative as an example of a “whole-of-government” approach, highlighting the collective role of various ministries, regulatory bodies and provincial administrations.
He stressed the importance of maintaining close coordination among the relevant institutions to facilitate beneficiaries and ensure the smooth delivery of services across the country.
Multiple institutions involved
The meeting was attended by the federal ministers for Information Technology and Telecommunication and Information and Broadcasting, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, federal and provincial secretaries, and representatives of several government institutions.
Officials from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), National Information Technology Board (NITB) and Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA) also participated in the meeting.
The participation of these institutions reflects the cross-government coordination required to manage registrations, process payments, oversee token redemption and address complaints from applicants.
Focus on beneficiary facilitation
The committee reviewed the operational aspects of the fuel relief scheme, with particular attention to registration progress and the ongoing token redemption process.
Ishaq Dar directed the relevant authorities to maintain their coordinated efforts to make the programme accessible to eligible beneficiaries and minimise disruptions in service delivery.
The committee will continue to monitor the implementation of the scheme, including beneficiary facilitation, payments, token redemption and the resolution of complaints.
