Islamabad, January 18, 2026 – Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic fire incident at Gul Plaza in Karachi, which resulted in the loss of precious human lives. He said the government stands in solidarity with the families of the deceased during this difficult time.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the premier directed authorities to take all necessary measures to protect lives and property and ensure full assistance to affected traders and citizens. He also instructed all relevant departments to work together during rescue operations to control the fire swiftly.
The prime minister emphasized the provision of the best possible medical treatment to the injured and prayed for their speedy recovery.
Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari also expressed profound grief over the Gul Plaza fire. In a statement from the President’s Secretariat, he offered condolences over the loss of valuable human lives and extended heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved families.
President Zardari directed the Sindh government and concerned institutions to provide immediate and maximum support to the affected individuals and traders. He stressed that no negligence should be shown in providing quality medical care to the injured and prayed for their early recovery and patience for the affected families.
