Islamabad, November 7, 2025 – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday welcomed Google’s decision to invest in Pakistan and establish offices, calling the company’s move to set up a product assembly line in Haripur a “milestone in Pakistan’s digital growth.”
According to a statement from the PM Office, the prime minister said Google’s investment reflects growing international confidence in the government’s policies aimed at promoting ease of doing business and attracting foreign investment.
He stated that local production of IT products will help make technology more affordable for citizens while contributing to Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves through export-oriented growth.
Highlighting his vision of transforming Pakistan into a digital nation, PM Shehbaz said the government is prioritizing youth empowerment in the IT sector. He mentioned that the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Google for training Pakistani youth marks a major step toward developing skilled professionals for the global market.
The prime minister also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing 100,000 laptops to deserving students to enhance access to digital resources and online learning opportunities.
He emphasized that nationwide IT training programs, including for women, are equipping young Pakistanis with essential skills to compete internationally and achieve economic self-reliance.
PM Shehbaz lauded the Federal Minister for Information Technology and his team for advancing Pakistan’s IT sector and reaffirmed his goal to make the country a regional hub for innovation and technology.
