PMD Forecast: Rain, Thunderstorms Expected in Western Balochistan

Islamabad, March 27, 2026 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast mainly dry and partly cloudy weather across most parts of Pakistan on Friday, with a likelihood of rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms in the western districts of Balochistan.

According to the latest weather update, major cities including Islamabad will experience dry conditions with partly cloudy skies. Similar weather is expected across most districts of Punjab, Sindh, and the rest of Balochistan.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, partly cloudy weather is likely to prevail, while Azad Kashmir may receive rain and thunderstorms during the morning hours. Meanwhile, Gilgit-Baltistan is expected to remain dry with partly cloudy conditions.

Rainfall Recorded in Last 24 Hours

The PMD reported that during the past 24 hours, rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms affected several regions, including northern Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Kashmir.

Among the highest rainfall figures, Cherat recorded 33mm, followed by Parachinar with 25mm. Other notable readings included Malam Jabba (11mm) and Peshawar (up to 8mm).

In Punjab, Chakwal led with 16mm of rainfall, followed by Joharabad (14mm) and Layyah (8mm). Areas of Islamabad, including Zero Point and Saidpur, also recorded light showers.

Balochistan saw significant rainfall in coastal and northern districts, with Ormara receiving 19mm and Barkhan 17mm. In Azad Kashmir, Kotli and Muzaffarabad recorded moderate rainfall.

Temperature Highlights Across Pakistan

Temperature readings showed warmer conditions in southern regions. Mithi recorded the highest temperature at 37°C, followed by Shaheed Benazirabad at 36°C. Karachi remained one of the warmest major cities, with temperatures ranging between 24°C and 33°C.

Meanwhile, Lahore recorded a high of 30°C, and Islamabad reached 27°C. Cooler conditions were observed in northern areas, with Murree recording temperatures between 4°C and 14°C, making it one of the coldest locations.

Outlook

The PMD advises citizens, especially in western Balochistan, to remain cautious as localized thunderstorms and gusty winds may impact travel and outdoor activities. Weather conditions are expected to remain stable elsewhere, with no major disruptions forecast in key urban centers.
