Islamabad, December 15, 2025 — The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather advisory warning of dense fog in patches across several parts of Sindh, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), potentially affecting visibility and travel conditions over the next two days.
According to the PMD, a shallow westerly wave is currently influencing the western and upper regions of the country, shaping prevailing weather patterns. As a result, cold and partly cloudy conditions are expected to dominate most areas, while very cold weather will continue in northern and hilly regions, particularly during night and early morning hours.
For Monday, the department forecasts generally cold weather nationwide. However, light rain with light snowfall over mountainous areas is expected at isolated locations in Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and northwestern Balochistan. PMD warned that fog and smog, with dense fog in patches, are likely to persist over Punjab, upper Sindh, and the plain areas of KP during night hours, which may disrupt road and air travel.
On Tuesday, similar conditions are expected to continue. Cold and partly cloudy weather will prevail across most parts of Pakistan, while hilly regions will experience very cold temperatures during morning and night. The risk of fog and smog, including dense fog in patches, will remain high over Punjab, upper Sindh, and plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during morning and night hours.
Reviewing the past 24-hour weather, PMD reported cold and dry conditions across most of the country, with very cold weather in hilly regions. Light rainfall was recorded in parts of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Chitral and Kalam, which received 1 mm of rain each. Smog and fog continued to affect plain areas of Punjab, KP, and upper Sindh during morning and night.
The lowest minimum temperatures recorded were Gupis (-03°C), Leh (-02°C), Skardu (-01°C), while Rawalakot and Parachinar recorded 0°C, highlighting the intensity of winter conditions in northern areas.
