Pakistan Weather

Islamabad, July 19, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a fresh weather advisory predicting further rainfall in Rawalpindi and Chakwal on Sunday, July 20, 2025. The PMD has cautioned residents of these areas to remain alert for possible rain-wind/thundershower activity, particularly during evening and night hours.

According to the PMD’s latest bulletin, partly cloudy and humid conditions are expected to persist in most districts of Punjab on Sunday. However, isolated rain-wind/thundershowers are likely in various upper and central Punjab cities, including Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Murree, Galiyat, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Lahore, and Sheikhupura. The PMD has highlighted Rawalpindi and Chakwal as key areas that could see moderate rainfall with potential localized heavy downpours.

The weather situation on Saturday, July 19, remains similar with partly cloudy and humid weather in most parts of Punjab. The PMD observed rainfall in parts of southern Punjab including Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan. Rawalpindi and Chakwal remained relatively calmer on Saturday, but both cities are likely to experience fresh spells starting late Saturday night or early Sunday.

On the national scale, the PMD’s synoptic analysis indicates that a depression currently lies over Rajasthan, India, and is expected to move southwest towards Sindh, Pakistan within the next 24 hours. Additionally, a trough of westerly wave is present over northern Pakistan, which could intensify rainfall in regions such as Rawalpindi.

The PMD forecasts dry and humid weather in most areas on Saturday but predicts rain-wind/thundershower activity in parts of Sindh, South Punjab, Balochistan, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Kashmir. For Sunday, rain and thunderstorms are expected to intensify in the same regions, including Islamabad and adjoining areas such as Rawalpindi.

In the past 24 hours, rainfall was recorded in several cities. Notably, Chakwal received 16 mm of rain, while Sargodha saw 40 mm, Sahiwal 10 mm, and Lahore 7 mm. The PMD continues to monitor changing weather patterns closely and advises citizens in Rawalpindi, Chakwal, and nearby districts to stay updated through official weather bulletins.
