PMD forecasts thunderstorms across Pakistan on April 1

Islamabad, March 31, 2026 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted widespread rain, thunderstorms, and isolated hailstorms in several parts of the country on April 1, particularly during the evening and night hours.

According to the latest forecast, gusty winds and thunderstorms are expected in parts of Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, central and southern Punjab, Sindh, and Kashmir. Some areas may also experience heavy rainfall and isolated hailstorms.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, districts including Peshawar, Swat, Dir, Chitral, Abbottabad, and Mansehra are likely to receive rain accompanied by strong winds after sunset. Similarly, cities in Punjab such as Multan, Sargodha, Jhang, and Layyah are expected to face similar weather conditions.

In Sindh, thunderstorms are forecast in Larkana, Dadu, Shikarpur, and Jacobabad. Meanwhile, parts of Balochistan—from Quetta and Loralai to Gwadar and Turbat—may experience scattered showers with chances of heavy downpours and hail.

The federal capital Islamabad is expected to remain partly cloudy and dry.

Over the past 24 hours, rain and thunderstorms were recorded in multiple regions, with Malam Jabba and Kotli receiving the highest rainfall at 46mm each. Cooler temperatures prevailed in northern areas, while Mithi recorded the highest temperature at 36°C.

The PMD has advised citizens to take precautionary measures, particularly in areas prone to strong winds, lightning, and hailstorms.
