Islamabad, September 17, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted the development of thunderstorms in several northern and upper regions of the country on Thursday, September 18, 2025.
According to the PMD, rain-windstorm and thunderstorms are expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, the Pothohar region, northeast Punjab, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Isolated heavy falls and hailstorms may also occur in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and adjoining hilly areas, which could cause temporary disruptions. Meanwhile, hot and dry conditions are likely to prevail in central and southern parts of Pakistan.
For Wednesday night, mainly dry weather is expected across most regions. However, isolated rain-wind and thunderstorms may develop in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and nearby hilly zones. The PMD has cautioned that during this spell, strong winds, hail, and lightning could damage weak infrastructure such as the roofs and walls of kacha houses, billboards, solar panels, vehicles, and electric poles. Citizens, especially travelers and tourists, have been advised to remain alert and avoid unnecessary exposure to vulnerable areas.
