Islamabad may receive isolated rain and thunderstorms as weak moist currents affect upper parts of Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast isolated rain, wind and thundershowers in Islamabad and adjoining areas over the coming days as weak moist currents continue to affect the upper parts of the country.
According to the PMD, Islamabad is expected to experience hot and humid to partly cloudy weather, with a 45% probability of rain, wind and thundershower activity on Sunday and Monday.

On Sunday, hot and humid, partly cloudy conditions are expected, with isolated rain, wind and thundershowers likely in Islamabad and surrounding areas, particularly during the evening and night. The probability of precipitation is forecast at 45%.
Similar weather is expected on Monday, with isolated rain, wind and thundershowers possible in Islamabad and adjoining areas. The probability of precipitation will remain at 45%.
The latest PMD flood bulletin has also listed Islamabad among areas likely to experience scattered rain, wind and thunderstorm activity. The department’s weekly outlook indicates continued rainfall activity in the upper catchments of major rivers.
Weather outlook across Pakistan
At the national level, continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country, while weak moist currents are approaching the upper regions. A shallow trough of a westerly wave is also present over the northern parts of Pakistan.
On Sunday, hot and humid weather is expected across most plain areas. However, isolated rain, wind and thundershowers are likely in upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas.
On Monday, hot and humid weather will continue across most plain areas, while isolated rain, wind and thundershowers are expected in Kashmir, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, north-eastern Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Rainfall recorded in last 24 hours
The PMD said hot and humid weather prevailed over most parts of the country during the previous 24 hours. However, isolated rain, wind and thundershowers were recorded in upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Garhi Dopatta and Babusar.

•Cherat: 25mm
•Balakot: 20mm
•Parachinar: 8mm
•Garhi Dopatta: 11mm
•Malam Jabba: 1mm
•Bacha Khan Airport: 1mm
•Babusar: 1mm
Temperatures remain high
Despite the expected rainfall in northern areas, temperatures remained high in several parts of the country.
Dadu recorded the highest maximum temperature at 43°C, while Sibbi, Dalbandin, Noorpur Thal, Nokundi, Rohri, Bhakkar and Bunji recorded 42°C.
The PMD advised residents and travellers in areas affected by thunderstorms to remain cautious, particularly during periods of strong winds and reduced visibility.
