Islamabad, November 3, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a cold weather alert for the upper regions of the country, warning of a significant temperature drop beginning tonight as a new westerly weather system approaches.
Synoptic Situation
According to the PMD, continental air is currently prevailing across most parts of Pakistan. However, a westerly wave is expected to enter the upper regions from Monday night, bringing cloudy conditions, rain, and snowfall over mountainous areas in the coming days.
Weather Outlook
Monday: Mostly dry weather is expected across the country, while cold conditions will dominate the hilly areas during night hours. Due to continued dryness and pollution, Punjab’s districts are likely to remain affected by smog. The PMD has advised the public to take precautionary measures to protect against respiratory issues.
Tuesday: The weather is likely to turn cloudy with rain-wind/thunderstorms and snowfall over high mountains in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Northeastern Punjab, the Potohar region, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir. Central and southern parts of the country will continue to experience dry conditions.
Past 24-Hour Report
During the last 24 hours, dry weather prevailed across most areas, with smog persisting in several Punjab districts. The lowest minimum temperatures recorded today were Leh -3°C, Skardu -2°C, Babusar 0°C, and Ziarat 0°C.
The PMD forecast indicates that temperatures will continue to drop from Tuesday through Thursday, marking the onset of the winter season in northern regions.
