Islamabad, August 17, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Sunday released its latest rainfall data, covering the past 24 hours across Sindh and other provinces.

The PMD cautioned that heavy rainfall may lead to flash floods in local streams of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeastern Balochistan, and parts of Potohar. Southeastern Sindh, including low-lying areas of Hyderabad and Tharparkar, is also vulnerable to urban flooding. Additionally, landslides and mudslides remain a threat in hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galliyat, and Kashmir.
The synoptic situation indicates a seasonal low over northern Balochistan, with moist currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal feeding into the upper and southern regions. A westerly wave is also impacting northern areas.
For Sunday and Monday, the PMD has forecast partly cloudy weather with chances of rain, wind, and thunderstorms in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, north and southeast Balochistan, and north and southeast Sindh. Isolated heavy falls may occur in Potohar, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and northeastern Punjab.
