Pakistan Weather

Islamabad, October 26, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a smog alert for Lahore and several other cities of Punjab for Monday, October 27, 2025.

The department has warned that persistent dry weather and increasing atmospheric pollution are likely to maintain smog conditions in eastern Punjab districts.

According to the PMD forecast, dry weather is expected to prevail across most parts of Punjab on Sunday and Monday. Murree, Galiyat, and surrounding hill areas will remain dry and cold, especially during the night hours. However, smog is likely to persist in Lahore, Gujranwala, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Okara, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Khanewal, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, and Multan.

Synoptic Situation

The PMD reported that continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country. A shallow westerly wave is expected to affect the upper regions of Pakistan from Sunday night, potentially bringing slight changes in temperature and cloud cover in northern areas.

National Weather Outlook

On Sunday, dry weather is expected across most regions, with cold conditions in hilly areas during nighttime. However, partly cloudy weather with light rain may occur in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and nearby hilly regions during the evening or night.

On Monday, the weather pattern is likely to remain the same—dry and cool in most areas, with partly cloudy conditions and light showers possible in northern parts of the country.

Advisory for Citizens

The PMD has advised citizens, especially in eastern Punjab, to take precautionary measures against smog. Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure, wear protective masks, and stay hydrated.
