Islamabad, November 2, 2023 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued a weather forecast on Thursday, predicting cold weather in the upper parts of the country on November 3, 2023.

According to the daily report, dry weather is expected in most plain areas of Pakistan, while the upper regions will experience chilly temperatures.

The forecast also includes the possibility of rain, wind, thunderstorms, and even snowfall in the mountainous regions of Kashmir. Additionally, areas in Pakistan may experience fog and smog during the morning hours, affecting visibility and travel.

The specific regions where rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall are expected include Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Meanwhile, fog and smog are likely to occur in several cities, including Dera Ghazi Khan, Faisalabad, Multan, Okara, and Joharabad.

The synoptic situation, as described by the PMD, indicates the presence of a shallow westerly wave over the northern parts of Pakistan. This weather system is responsible for the anticipated changes in weather conditions.

Over the past 24 hours, most of the country experienced dry weather, with cold temperatures prevailing in the northern regions. However, some areas in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Potohar region, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan witnessed rain, wind, and thunderstorms. The recorded rainfall in various regions is as follows:

• Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Malam Jabba 25mm, Balakot 19mm, Saidu Sharif 17mm, Kakul 09mm, Mardan 08mm, Charat, Patan 02mm, Bacha Khan (Airport) 01mm.

As the forecast suggests, residents in the upper parts of Pakistan should prepare for cold weather and the possibility of snowfall in the mountainous areas. Travelers are advised to take caution due to fog and smog in certain cities. The PMD will continue to monitor and update the weather conditions to ensure public safety and awareness during this transition to colder weather.
