The forecast indicates that the country will experience mainly cold and dry weather, with very cold conditions expected in the northern regions. Additionally, dense fog and smog are likely to persist in Islamabad, Punjab, upper Sindh, and the plain areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the PMD’s weather report for Friday, January 5, 2024, cloudy weather with rain and snow over hills is expected in most parts of Balochistan, along with isolated places in Gilgit Baltistan. The meteorological department has issued a warning, highlighting the likelihood of dense fog continuing over the plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Upper Sindh, and Islamabad throughout the week. The recorded weather over the past 24 hours was characterized as cold and dry in most parts of the country, with very cold conditions in northern areas and northern Balochistan. Dense fog and smog prevailed over the plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Sindh, and Islamabad. Rainfall was recorded in Pasni with 3mm and Gawadar with 1mm.
The lowest minimum temperatures recorded during this period were as follows: Leh at -11°C, Skardu at -10°C, Kalam, Gupis, Gilgit, and Astore at -05°C, Srinagar at -04°C, and Rawalakot and Hunza at -03°C.
