Islamabad, September 5, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast the possibility of thundershowers in Islamabad on Saturday, September 6, 2025, bringing some relief from the prevailing hot and humid conditions.
The capital city and adjoining areas are expected to experience partly cloudy weather during the day, followed by isolated rain-wind or thundershower activity at night, with a probability of around 30 percent.
For Friday night, the PMD has predicted partly cloudy skies and warm conditions in Islamabad, consistent with the recent weather pattern observed in the region. On Saturday, temperatures are likely to remain high during the daytime before clouds build up in the afternoon, setting the stage for possible rainfall by evening or night.
At the national level, the PMD explained that a low-pressure system currently lies over Madhya Pradesh, India, and is expected to shift northwest toward Rajasthan within the next 24 hours. Monsoon currents are also penetrating Sindh and southeastern Punjab, with intensity likely to increase by Saturday evening. This development may trigger showers in parts of southern and northeastern Pakistan.
The synoptic outlook suggests mainly hot and dry weather across much of the country. However, scattered rain and thunderstorms are possible in northeastern Punjab, southeastern Sindh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and central Balochistan.
During the past 24 hours, hot and dry conditions dominated most regions, though isolated showers were reported in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan. Maximum temperatures reached 42°C in Nokkundi, while Dalbandin and Chhor recorded 41°C.
Residents of Islamabad are advised to prepare for a warm day on Saturday with a chance of evening showers that may provide temporary respite from the heat.
