Islamabad, February 14, 2026 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast predicting rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds in Karachi and other parts of Pakistan from February 16 to 17, 2026. The weather is expected as a shallow westerly system approaches the country.
According to PMD, Balochistan will experience light to moderate rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms in several areas, including Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Chaghi, Dalbandin, Noshki, Harnai, Zhob, Kalat, Mastung, Barkhan, Sibi, Loralai, Khuzdar, Kech, Turbat, Panjgur, Gwadar, Awaran, Kharan, Pasni, Ormara, and Lasbela from the evening of February 16 through February 17, with intermittent breaks.
The system is also expected to impact Sindh on February 17, bringing rain and gusty, dust-raising winds to Dadu, Hyderabad, Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Jamshoro, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Khairpur.
In southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are forecast in Waziristan, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, and Kurram from the night of February 16 into February 17. Southern Punjab areas including Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Bhakkar, Layyah, and Bahawalpur may also see isolated rain or drizzle with strong winds on February 17.
The PMD has warned of possible hailstorms in northern Balochistan, Dera Ismail Khan, and Dera Ghazi Khan, which could damage crops and weak structures. Farmers are advised to take precautionary measures to protect standing crops, while the public is urged to stay cautious during dust storms and heavy showers and follow official weather updates.
The forecast highlights the need for vigilance as the westerly weather system may bring sudden changes in temperature, strong winds, and localized flooding in vulnerable areas.
