Islamabad, June 3, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a spell of thunderstorm activity in various parts of Punjab on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
According to the PMD’s official weather update, several districts in Punjab are likely to experience partly cloudy conditions accompanied by rain, wind, and thunderstorm.
The districts expected to be affected by the thunderstorm include Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Mianwali, Jhelum, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Okara, Kasur, Sargodha, Khushab, Bhakkar, Layyah, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, and Khanewal. Isolated hailstorms are also likely in some areas. Moreover, wind and duststorms are anticipated in Multan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, and adjoining localities.
The PMD stated that hot and dry weather will persist in most other areas of Punjab, particularly in the southern plains, where very hot conditions are expected to prevail.
For Tuesday night, the weather is predicted to remain generally dry across Punjab, although isolated rain-wind/thunderstorm activity may occur in upper districts such as Murree, Rawalpindi, and Lahore, among others. The department reiterated the possibility of isolated hailstorms and windstorms in southern districts.
The PMD has also issued a national advisory, warning that windstorms, dust storms, thunderstorms, hailstorms, heavy rainfall, and lightning could potentially damage vulnerable infrastructure, including electric poles, trees, vehicles, and solar panels.
Synoptic Situation:
A shallow westerly wave is currently affecting the upper regions of the country, while moist currents are penetrating northeastern parts, including Punjab.
National Forecast:
• Tuesday: Mostly dry weather is expected nationwide. However, isolated rain-wind/thunderstorm activity may occur in upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.
• Wednesday: Hot and dry weather will prevail across most regions, particularly in the plains. However, scattered thunderstorm activity is expected in upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.

Hot and dry weather dominated the country, with isolated rain-wind/thunderstorm observed in parts of Punjab, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Notable rainfall in Punjab included Sahiwal (26mm), Okara and Toba Tek Singh (4mm), and Rawalpindi (1mm).
The highest temperatures recorded were: Sibi 48°C, Dadu 47°C, and Turbat 46°C.
