Islamabad, January 25, 2026 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Sunday released details of the lowest temperatures recorded today across various regions of Pakistan, as severe winter conditions continue to grip large parts of the country.
According to the PMD, Leh recorded the lowest temperature at minus 14°C, making it the coldest place in the country today. Other extremely cold areas included Astore, Kalam, and Nathia Gali, where temperatures dropped to minus 9°C. Kalam, Parachinar, and Kalat reported minus 8°C, followed by Gupis at minus 7°C. The mercury dipped to minus 6°C in Malam Jabba, while Skardu and Quetta recorded minus 5°C.
PMD Warning: Heavy Snowfall and Travel Advisory
The PMD has issued a weather warning for heavy snowfall that may lead to road closures and slippery conditions in several mountainous and northern regions from January 26 to 27. Affected areas include Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Chitral, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Murree, Galliyat, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch, Haveli, and parts of Balochistan, including Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Noshki, Harnai, and Zhob.
The department also warned of a possibility of landslides and avalanches in hilly areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir during the forecast period. Tourists have been advised to remain extra cautious and avoid unnecessary travel.
Synoptic Situation
A western weather system is expected to affect southwestern Balochistan from tonight and is likely to spread to western and upper parts of the country from Monday.

Cold winds are also likely across many regions. Partly cloudy weather with rain, wind, thunderstorms, and snowfall is expected in southwestern Balochistan during the evening and night.
Monday:
Cloudy weather with intermittent rain, wind, thunderstorms, and snowfall is forecast for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, and upper Punjab. Moderate to heavy snowfall is likely in hilly areas, while rain and thunderstorms may occur in south Punjab and upper Sindh.
