PMD warns of heavy rain in Sindh Sept 29–Oct 3

Monsoon Rainfall

Islamabad, September 29, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a significant alert predicting widespread rain in Sindh between September 29 and October 3.

Officials warned that the weather system could bring heavy showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds to several districts of the province.

According to the PMD, a well-marked low-pressure system currently lies over Gujarat, India, and is expected to gradually move in a west-northwest direction. Moist currents from the northeastern Arabian Sea are already penetrating southeastern Sindh, while a fresh westerly wave is likely to affect the upper parts of Pakistan by October 3. Under the combined influence of these systems, various areas of Sindh are likely to experience rain accompanied by wind and thunderstorms.

Districts expected to receive rain include Tharparkar (Mithi, Islamkot, Nagarparkar, Chachro, Dhali, Diplo, Kaloi), Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Khairpur, Matiari, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Karachi, Thatta, Badin, and Sujawal. The PMD added that moderate to heavy rainfall is particularly likely in Tharparkar, Umerkot, and Mirpurkhas during the forecast period.

Authorities have cautioned that strong winds, heavy rain, and lightning may damage vulnerable structures, including kacha houses, electric poles, and billboards. Travelers and residents are advised to remain alert, avoid unnecessary movement in affected regions, and stay updated with official weather advisories.

The PMD’s Tropical Cyclone Warning Center continues to closely monitor the evolving weather situation in Sindh and will issue updates as needed.
