PMD warns of sharp temperature drop across Northern Pakistan

Islamabad, November 21, 2025 — The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued an alert predicting a noticeable drop in temperatures across northern Pakistan over the next few days.

According to the advisory, both daytime and nighttime temperatures are expected to fall further as northern regions experience intensified cold conditions. The PMD noted that continental air will dominate most parts of the country, while a weak westerly wave continues to influence the extreme upper areas.

Friday

Cold and dry weather is expected nationwide, with very cold nights in the northern areas. Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir may witness partly cloudy skies with chances of light rain or snowfall at isolated spots. Light patches of smog or fog may develop over Punjab plains during night hours.

Saturday

Dry and cold conditions will persist, with northern regions likely to see freezing temperatures, especially in the morning and at night. Smog and shallow fog may continue to affect parts of Punjab.

The weather remained dry across most regions, while hilly areas experienced cold to very cold conditions. Smog and shallow fog persisted over portions of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
