PMD warns of isolated heavy rain, strong winds and hailstorms in several regions as a low-pressure system moves westwards.
ISLAMABAD, September 14, 2026: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast hot and humid weather across most plain areas of Pakistan, while rain, thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, windstorms and hailstorms are expected in several regions over the next 24 to 48 hours.
According to the PMD’s latest synoptic situation, a low-pressure system that was previously located over Odisha in India has moved to Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas. The system is expected to move west-northwestwards during the next 24 to 36 hours.
A shallow westerly trough is also likely to approach the upper parts of the country during the next 24 hours, potentially influencing weather conditions in northern areas.
Weather forecast for Monday
Hot and humid weather is expected to prevail across most plain areas of Pakistan on Monday.
However, isolated rain, wind and thundershowers are likely in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, the Potohar region and southeastern Sindh.
The PMD has warned that heavy rainfall, windstorms and hailstorms may occur at isolated places in southeastern Sindh.
Weather forecast for Tuesday
Partly cloudy weather is expected across most plain areas on Tuesday.
Rain, wind and thundershowers are likely at isolated places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, upper Punjab, Islamabad and southeastern Sindh.
The department has forecast isolated heavy rainfall, windstorms and hailstorms in Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, southeastern Sindh and the Potohar region.
Light rain may also occur at isolated places in central and southern Punjab.
Weather recorded during past 24 hours
The PMD said weather remained hot and humid over most parts of the country during the past 24 hours.
Rain was recorded at isolated places in southeastern Sindh, Islamabad and northeastern Punjab.
In Sindh, Kaloi in Tharparkar received 20mm of rain, while Nangarparkar recorded 2mm and Mithi 1mm. Badin received 6mm.
In Punjab, Saidpur in Islamabad recorded 14mm and Zeropoint 2mm, while Lahore City received 13mm and Lahore Airport 4mm. Sialkot Airport recorded 13mm and Mangla 1mm.
Highest temperatures
The highest maximum temperature of 42°C was recorded at Lasbela, Nokundi, Sibi, Mithi and Turbat.
The PMD has advised residents in areas under the weather alert to remain cautious, particularly in locations where heavy rainfall, strong winds and hailstorms are expected.
Residents are also advised to take necessary precautions during thunderstorms and avoid unnecessary exposure in areas affected by severe weather.
