Port Qasim Facilitates Robust Shipping Activity on April 5, 2024

Karachi, April 5, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has released its shipping activity report for Friday, April 5, 2024, showcasing a bustling maritime scene aimed at facilitating stakeholders involved in foreign trade.

Five ships, namely Cosco America, Xpress Salween, Marina Arung, Lian Song Hu, and Alba Gas, carrying container, palm oil, gas oil, and LPG, respectively, berthed at Container Terminal, Liquid Terminal, FOTCO Terminal, and Sui Southern Gas Terminal on Thursday.

In addition to these arrivals, three more ships, Banglar Agragoti, Corona, and Sea Pearl, anchored at the outer-anchorage of Port Qasim on the same day.

Over the past 24 hours, a total of eight ships have been engaged at PQA berths. Of these, two ships, Xpress Salween and Cosco America, departed from the port this morning, while two more ships, Mala Kado and Goofy, are scheduled to set sail later today.

During this period, the port handled a cargo volume of 89,181 tonnes, comprising 46,508 tonnes of imports and 42,673 tonnes of exports, carried in 3,122 containers (1,360 TEUs imports and 1,762 TEUs exports).

Presently, there are seven ships stationed at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. Among them, three ships – Hanze Goteborg, Star Challenger, and Sea Pearl – are scheduled to load/offload rice, coal, and chemicals and are expected to berth at MW-2, MW-4, and FAP on April 5th. Additionally, two more container ships, Atlantic Ibis and CMA CGM Mercantour, are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Saturday, further amplifying the port’s bustling activity.

The diverse array of cargoes being handled at Port Qasim underscores its pivotal role in facilitating international trade and commerce. With shipments ranging from containers to bulk liquids and gases, the port serves as a vital gateway for both imports and exports, connecting Pakistan to global markets.
