Karachi, October 16, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has released its latest shipping activity report for Wednesday, October 16, 2024, providing critical updates for stakeholders regarding the port’s operations over the past 24 hours.
According to the report, five ships – Mundra Express, Maersk Cairo, Happy Hero, No.5 Ocean Pioneer, and Maya Gas-1 – were berthed at Port Qasim’s various terminals on Tuesday. These vessels were tasked with loading and offloading a variety of cargo, including containers, rice, palm oil, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). The ships were positioned at the Qasim International Container Terminal (QICT), the Grain Terminal, the Liquid Cargo Terminal, and the Engro Vopak Terminal, respectively.
In addition to these berthing activities, four more vessels – Morning, Mahadah Silver, San Nicolas, and Qing Quan Shan – arrived at the outer anchorage of the port over the past 24 hours, ready to engage in their respective loading and offloading operations in the coming days.
The port remained a hub of activity, with a total of nine ships engaged at various berths during the same 24-hour period. Two ships, Mundra Express and Apex, departed the port this morning, while two more vessels, Maersk Cairo and Maya Gas-1, are scheduled to set sail this afternoon.
Over the last day, Port Qasim handled a total cargo volume of 96,111 tonnes. This figure included 44,560 tonnes of imported cargo and 51,551 tonnes of export cargo. The total cargo processed was carried in 2,320 containers, with 40 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) of imports and 2,280 TEUs of exports.
As of today, there are currently 16 ships anchored at Port Qasim’s outer anchorage. Of these vessels, three – Haj Muhammad, San Nicolas, and Qing Quan Shan – along with an additional three ships, EM Fortune, APL Qing Quan Shan, and Maersk Kensington – are expected to berth later today. These ships will handle various cargoes, including cement, coal, motor gasoline (mogas), and containers at multiple terminals such as MW-1, MW-4, PIBT, and QICT.
