Karachi, October 22, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has issued its detailed shipping activity report for Tuesday, October 22, 2024, highlighting the ongoing maritime operations at the port over the last 24 hours. The report reflects the bustling nature of Pakistan’s second-largest port, which continues to play a pivotal role in handling the country’s import and export needs.

According to the report, seven vessels were berthed at the port, actively engaged in loading and offloading various types of cargo. The ships included X-Press Altair, Karlskrona, Maersk Sentosa, Valentina, Orange Victoria, Cl-Huaiyang, and Dravin. These vessels were distributed across key terminals, including the Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi-Purpose Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal, and Sui Southern Gas Terminal, handling a wide variety of goods such as containers, rice, gasoline, palm oil, and LPG.

The report underscores the efficient coordination among the port’s terminals and the vessels, ensuring timely berthing and swift handling of cargo. Each terminal is designed to handle specific types of goods, making it easier to manage the diverse cargo that flows through Port Qasim daily.

In addition to the ships that were berthed at the port, two more vessels—Scarlet Rosella and Bam Bam—arrived at the outer anchorage on October 21, carrying canola seed and gas oil. These ships are expected to be berthed soon, continuing the steady flow of goods into and out of the port.

Over the last 24 hours, a total of 13 ships were engaged in various activities at the port, showcasing Port Qasim’s capacity to handle large volumes of cargo efficiently. Among these vessels, three—X-Press Altair, Karlskrona, and Lusail—departed early on Tuesday morning after successfully completing their operations. Two more vessels, Happy Hero and Karpathos Dawn, are also scheduled to sail later in the day, keeping the port’s schedule tight and ensuring minimal downtime between operations.

The report also provides details on the volume of cargo processed over the past 24 hours. Port Qasim handled a total cargo volume of 123,725 tonnes, which included 90,308 tonnes of imports and 33,417 tonnes of exports. The cargo was carried in 2,087 containers, comprising 666 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) of imports and 1,421 TEUs of exports, further reflecting the port’s role as a crucial hub for containerized cargo.

Port Qasim continues to serve as a vital gateway for Pakistan’s maritime trade, facilitating smooth operations and the seamless movement of goods. The latest report showcases the port’s ability to efficiently manage multiple vessels and a diverse range of cargo, ensuring that the country’s trade flows remain uninterrupted.
