Karachi, October 7, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has released its shipping activity report for Monday, October 7, 2024, detailing the port’s operations to provide vital updates to stakeholders.

On Sunday, two vessels, MSC Fair Field and OM Singapore, successfully berthed at the port, with the former docking at the Qasim International Container Terminal and the latter at the Liquid Cargo Terminal. MSC Fair Field was carrying containers, while OM Singapore was handling palm oil.

In the last 24 hours, four additional ships – Kapra Thos Dawn, Haj Mohammad, Rasha, and Petrel-1 – arrived at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim, awaiting their berths.

At present, seven ships are actively engaged at various PQA berths, contributing to ongoing operations. Among them, the general cargo carrier Peppino departed from the port early this morning after completing its loading and unloading procedures.

During the last 24 hours, Port Qasim handled a total cargo volume of 85,152 tonnes, which included 58,977 tonnes of imported goods and 26,175 tonnes of export cargo. This volume was processed in a total of 2,438 containers, comprising 1,180 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of imports and 1,258 TEUs of exports.

Currently, there are eight ships stationed at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. Out of these, Sunda and two other vessels – Aligot and Al-Diab – are scheduled to berth on Monday. Sunda will be loading/offloading cement at MW-2, Aligot will handle gas oil at FOTCO, and Al-Diab will process liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at SSGC.

Looking ahead, two additional container ships, MSC Alina and MSC Melissa, are expected to arrive at Port Qasim on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, further adding to the port’s busy schedule.

The report reflects the continued efficient handling of both containerized and liquid cargo at Port Qasim, highlighting the port’s significant role in Pakistan’s trade and economic activities.
