Karachi, October 11, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) released its shipping activity report for Friday, October 11, 2024, outlining the movement of vessels and cargo at the port.
The report provides essential information for stakeholders, highlighting the steady flow of trade through one of Pakistan’s busiest maritime hubs.
According to the report, six ships arrived at Port Qasim on Thursday for loading and offloading various types of cargo. These vessels included the Atlantic Ibis, Hyundai Hong Kong, Wan Hai-316, Christos-K, Bristol Trader, and Yasa Aysen. The ships berthed at different terminals based on their cargo specifications. The Atlantic Ibis, Hyundai Hong Kong, and Wan Hai-316 were berthed at the Qasim International Container Terminal, handling containerized goods. The Christos-K and Bristol Trader docked at the Multi-Purpose Terminal, while the Yasa Aysen was at the Pakistan International Bulk Terminal (PIBT) for coal.
Meanwhile, four additional ships – African Harrier, PVT Aurora, Marangas Klymnos, and Berge Catherine – arrived at the outer anchorage of the port early Friday morning. These vessels are scheduled to load and offload rice, chemicals, LNG, and coal.
Over the last 24 hours, Port Qasim saw a total of 11 ships actively engaged at its berths. Among these, three vessels, Wan Hai-316, Hyundai Hong Kong, and Al-Wajbah, departed from the port this morning. Four more ships, Phoenician-M, Abu-Al-Abyad, Petrl-1, and Helsinki Eagle, are expected to set sail later this afternoon.
The port handled a total cargo volume of 102,037 tonnes over the last 24 hours, with 70,904 tonnes of imports and 31,133 tonnes of exports. This cargo included 2,177 containers (1,531 TEUs of imports and 646 TEUs of exports), reflecting Port Qasim’s role in facilitating Pakistan’s international trade.
As of today, there are 13 ships anchored at the outer harbor of Port Qasim. Out of these, five vessels – Apex, Nord Taipei, Au Taurus, Van Phong-1, and Marangas Klymnos – are scheduled to dock at various terminals to load and offload cement, lentils, palm oil, mogas, and LNG. Another container ship, Maersk Saratoga, is expected to arrive at the port on Saturday, adding to the busy shipping activity.
