Karachi, October 21, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has released its daily shipping activity report for Monday, October 21, 2024, detailing the significant movements of vessels and cargo at the port over the last 24 hours. The report serves to update and facilitate stakeholders, highlighting ongoing operations at the port, which remains one of Pakistan’s key hubs for international trade.
On Sunday, October 20, 2024, six vessels were reported to have berthed at various terminals of Port Qasim. The ships, including TSS Amber, Alea, Nave Cielo, Lusail, Xin Hai Tong-8, and Ellan Manx, were scheduled to load or offload a variety of cargoes such as containers, rice, gasoline, LNG, and coal. These vessels were handled at Qasim International Container Terminal, Grain Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal, Pakistan Gas Port Consortium Terminal, Multi-Purpose Terminal, and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, respectively.
In addition to the vessels already berthed, three more ships, Karlskrona, Orange Victoria, and Dravin, arrived at the outer anchorage of the port in the last 24 hours. These ships are expected to load or offload containers, gasoline, and LPG, and will be processed through the port’s facilities in the coming hours.
Port Qasim saw a total of 11 ships engaged in various operations over the past day. Of these, two vessels, Falcon Royal and Al-Deebel, departed from the port this morning. Meanwhile, three more ships, TSS Amber, Haj Mohammad, and Nave Cielo, are scheduled to sail later in the afternoon.
The port also handled a substantial cargo volume of 149,501 tonnes in the past 24 hours. This included 115,887 tonnes of imported goods and 33,614 tonnes of export cargo. The cargo was transported through 2,290 containers, with 900 TEUs (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units) of imports and 1,390 TEUs of exports.
At present, 17 ships are anchored at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim, awaiting berths. Of these, five ships – Valentina, Cl Huaiyang, Orange Victoria, Dravin, and Karlskrona – are scheduled to load or offload cargoes such as rice, palm oil, gasoline, and LPG. Another ship, X-Press Altair, is expected to offload containers.
Looking ahead, three more container ships, MSC Mundra-VIII, Atlantic Ibis, and Maersk Sentosa, are expected to arrive at Port Qasim on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. The port remains a vital artery for Pakistan’s international trade, with a robust flow of goods continuing unabated.
