Port Qasim Activity

Karachi, September 23, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has issued its latest shipping activity report for Monday, September 23, 2024, providing an update on vessel movements and cargo handling at the port. The report is aimed at informing stakeholders, including shipping agents, importers, and exporters, of the ongoing operations at one of Pakistan’s busiest ports.

According to the report, three vessels, Corona, North Berwick, and Sapphire-X, carrying palm oil and coal, berthed at the Liquid Cargo Terminal and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal (PIBT) on Sunday. These ships have begun unloading their cargoes as part of routine port operations.

Additionally, three more ships – Kition-M, Oslo Eagle, and Milaha Ras Laffan – have arrived at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim within the last 24 hours. These ships are now waiting to take their turns to dock at the port for cargo operations.

In total, seven ships were engaged at Port Qasim’s berths over the past 24 hours. Of these, two vessels, ATN Victory and Torm Belis, are scheduled to set sail on Monday after completing their loading and unloading procedures. The port has been maintaining a steady flow of operations to ensure the smooth handling of cargoes.

The report also highlights that a total of 99,160 tonnes of cargo was handled during the last 24 hours. This volume includes 93,101 tonnes of imported cargo, consisting of various commodities such as coal, palm oil, and LNG, and 6,059 tonnes of export cargo, primarily in containers. The PQA’s robust capacity allows for efficient cargo handling, ensuring timely delivery to both domestic and international markets.

Seven ships are currently anchored at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim, awaiting berthing. Of these, four vessels – TSS Amber, ATN Unity, Kition-M, and Milaha Ras Laffan – are scheduled to berth at Qasim International Container Terminal (QICT), MW-2, Fauji Oil Terminal & Distribution Company (FOTCO), and Pakistan Gasport Consortium Limited (PGPCL), respectively, on Monday. These ships are carrying a range of cargoes, including containers, palm kernel oil, gas oil, and liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Furthermore, three additional container ships, Maersk Durban, MSC Maeva, and Atlantic Ibis, are expected to arrive at the port on Tuesday. Their arrival will further increase the port’s activity, underscoring the strategic importance of Port Qasim in facilitating Pakistan’s maritime trade.

The port authority continues to focus on efficient cargo handling and timely ship movements to ensure that Port Qasim remains a vital hub for international trade.
