Karachi, October 15, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) released its daily shipping activity report for Tuesday, providing an update on recent arrivals, departures, and ongoing cargo handling operations at the port.

According to the report, six vessels were berthed at Port Qasim on Monday, handling a diverse range of cargo including containers, fertilizers, LNG, and coal. The ships—Mol Presence, Apollon-D, MSC Positano, Agios Nikolas, Milaha Ras Laffan, and Leonidas—were docked at various terminals including Qasim International Container Terminal, Grain Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal, and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal.

Additionally, the arrival of the edible oil carrier CL-Huaiyang at the outer anchorage of the port was reported on Tuesday morning. This vessel is expected to berth soon to discharge its cargo of edible oil.

During the last 24 hours, a total of 11 ships were engaged in operations at the port, with several ships departing and new vessels scheduled to arrive. Four vessels—Mol Presence, Apollon-D, Solar Catie, and SC-Taipei—left the port on Tuesday morning, while two more ships, MSC Positano and Berge Catherine, are expected to sail later in the afternoon.

Port Qasim reported handling a cargo volume of 202,032 tonnes over the last 24 hours. This included 136,973 tonnes of import cargo and 65,059 tonnes of export cargo. A total of 5,312 containers (2,320 TEUs of imports and 2,992 TEUs of exports) were processed during this period, showcasing the port’s steady operational activity.

Looking ahead, 15 ships are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim, awaiting berths. Among them are Happy Hero, No.5 Pioneer, and Maya Gas-1, which are expected to load or offload rice, palm oil, and LPG at the respective terminals. Additionally, container vessels Mundra Express and Maersk Cairo are scheduled to take berths at the port’s facilities later on October 15.

The shipping report also noted the expected arrival of two container ships, Maersk Kensington and APL Qingdao, on Wednesday, October 16. These vessels are set to further increase the volume of cargo handled at the port, continuing Port Qasim’s significant role in facilitating Pakistan’s import and export activities.
