Karachi, February 12, 2026: The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) on Thursday reported busy shipping operations, reflecting strong maritime trade activity and steady cargo handling at one of Pakistan’s key seaports.
According to the shipping activity report updated at 8:00 AM, several vessels were involved in sailing, berthing, and shifting operations over the past 24 hours. The continuous movement of cargo ships highlights sustained import and export flows, particularly in energy, industrial raw materials, and containerized goods.
Sailing of Vessels
Among the ships that sailed from Port Qasim, M.T-ELM Galaxy departed carrying edible oil cargo, while M.V-Ren Jian 26 left the port loaded with container shipments. Another bulk carrier, M.V-Kiran Caribbean, sailed after handling a significant coal consignment, underlining the steady demand for energy-related imports.
Berthing of Vessels
On the berthing front, several vessels docked at different terminals to unload and load diverse cargo. Bulk carriers carrying coal and steel coils berthed alongside oil tankers transporting motor gasoline (MOGAS), bitumen, LPG, and LNG. Notably, the arrival of a large LNG carrier added to the port’s energy handling operations, supporting Pakistan’s fuel supply chain.
Container vessels also berthed at dedicated terminals, facilitating the smooth flow of international trade goods. Port officials said the coordinated berthing schedule helped maintain efficient turnaround times and minimize congestion.
Shifting Operations
In addition to sailing and berthing activities, shifting operations were also conducted during the day. A bulk carrier transporting coal was repositioned within the port to optimize berth utilization and ensure smooth cargo discharge.
Outlook
Maritime experts noted that consistent shipping activity at Port Qasim reflects resilient trade volumes, despite global economic uncertainties. The port continues to play a crucial role in supporting Pakistan’s industrial sector, energy imports, and export-oriented industries.
With ongoing infrastructure upgrades and operational improvements, Port Qasim is expected to further enhance its cargo handling capacity and operational efficiency in the coming months.
